Online vs in-person tutoring

Many parents feel that their child can only benefit if they receive tutoring 1:1 and in-person.  There are many reasons why online tuition is more flexible, accessible and effective in the long term.

How do I learn online?

Post your request - Tell us what you need help with. We will do our best to respond within 48 hours to any request.

Meet your tutor - You can call, message, email or video chat for free with the tutor to discuss your needs in more detail before committing to a programme of lessons. You can schedule classes with them at a time that suits you.

Attend your classes - Enjoy classes from the comfort of your home via your preferred online video software. Classes are recorded so you can watch them again. This is not usually possible for in-person sessions.

Remember your learning - Refer back to video recordings and keep in touch between sessions via email and WhatsApp.

Use of technology

Video conferencing - We prefer Zoom for high quality video communication wherever you are, but can operate through Microsoft Teams or Google Meet where this is preferred.

File sharing - Easily share your notes, papers, documents and workings via Google Docs and WhatsApp.  Send examples of school work or exam outcomes to aid tutor preparation.

Class recordings - All online classes are automatically recorded, stored and saved for you to watch back when you need. Our system provides a safe and secure learning environment.

Screen sharing - We use a variety of online apps and AI technology to write and type together. Online lessons are often more fun, engaging and fulfilling.

Better for the learner...

More enjoyable - Students love learning online because modern technology makes tutoring more fun. We have a variety of online tools to enhance the student’s learning experience and make sure lessons are engaging. During online tutoring, students can share, communicate and collaborate in a way that enables them to visualise and comprehend their work more easily.

More accessible - Whether in Basingstoke or the Bahamas, online tutoring offers every student the chance to interact with tutors even if they do not live near you. North or South, public or private, the quality of your education is no longer bound by your post code, as the tutor can bring their expertise and experience to your screen.

Better for the parent...

More flexible - Often logistics can be an issue when attempting to organise one-to-one tuition at home. Online tutoring offers much more flexibility than in-person tutoring. Because no travel is required, tutors can provide more flexible tutoring hours. It is also much easier to arrange last minute or emergency sessions when students need additional support before their exams or deadlines.

More cost effective - As tutors avoid travel costs, they can offer more competitive hourly rates without sacrificing quality.  It may also be possible to combine sessions with other learners from other locations in order to reduce the overall cost.
